“Louisiana’s West Wing forms the setting for this autumn’s major presentation of the German artist Daniel Richter (b. 1962). Under the title Lonely Old Slogans the exhibition features 45 paintings – several of them very large. It ranges from the early abstract pictures from 1995 to the most recent ones, in which Richter’s painting once more approaches abstraction with a background in pornographic images from the Internet coupled with the painterly skills of the great tradition – as in the works of Jorn and Willem de Kooning. The exhibition is thus an important chapter in the history of the fate and status of painting in the 20th and early 21st century.” — Louisiana Museum of Modern Art
